Journey of the Self: Week of 8th December 2008

15th Dec 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

Your Soul has a deep desire to express and fulfill its purpose. At some point in your life, the balance of power shifts between your Soul and your humanity. Your Soul expresses that it can no longer be restricted. Although the human side keeps you safe, your Soul wants to be free. You realize that being safe is no substitute for the joy of expressing your Soul's purpose.

There is a difference between your human work and your True work. As you start to shift from human needs to soul desires your passions change. Inspiration that comes from this higher point is very different from your human drive. This kind of passion comes from the soul's purpose to be served, instead of from the ego, which is driven by human achievement and the need to be safe and valid.

Temporary happiness comes when your human needs are fulfilled. Yet when you are engaged in your life purpose you have a sense of resonance and aliveness. The relief when your Soul expresses its mission is enormous and lasting. You feel your True Self coming through you. When you serve your Soul's purpose your heart sings and the feeling of joy is immeasurable.

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 1st December 2008

15th Dec 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

The Journey of the Self is a process of Alchemy because you become energetically altered. You are outwardly the same but you inwardly change. You have deconstructed the human-created self and begin to live as a whole spiritual human being. You return to a state of innocence, but not with a lack of knowledge. In essence, you know yourself fully and reside in a state of grace and wisdom, working in "True" with the Universe.

Journey of the Self: Week of 3rd November 2008

10th Nov 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

In order to make the Journey of the Self you need to climb down from a lofty space and experience your humanity at a base level. Human beings by and large do not like discomfort and create natural defenses to keep them safe and out of pain. They tend to either deny or judge their negative experiences and anesthetize themselves in some fashion to reduce their suffering.

The Journey of the Self is to move you beyond these defenses and into your pain, knowing that suffering is part of the human condition. Understand that the most difficult things are the most valuable and that your negative experiences are your best teachers as they afford you the opportunity to know yourself fully. Discomfort should be recognized for what it is and accepted as a constructive experience.

This Journey is about seeing and knowing your humanity fully, including your pain. The human part of us will avoid pain, but by accessing your emotional wounds you have a chance to heal yourself. When you stand in your pain and know it for what it is you will learn you can survive it. Once you accept your pain you can move through it and release its influence. This will lead you to a greater self understanding and to healing and true freedom.

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 27th October 2008

7th Nov 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

The Journey of the Self is not about taking yourself away from earthly experiences, but about connecting to yourself and your life in an earthly sense.

It is important is that the journey is constructed in reality as things need to be "real" to move us from one stage of the process to another. Real circumstances are essential to provide the experiences to truly see ourselves and make change. The pressure points that arise from these experiences highlight our feelings and reactions. This is all part of the process of coming into being.

Honor all parts of yourself and your life and keep your feet firmly planted on the ground. Stay in the present. Don't project and don't reflect. The point of power is reality, current truth. The Universe will bring you what you need to move you forward.

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 20th October 2008

7th Nov 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

Human beings have a great need to connect to the deeper part of their being, yet this cannot be achieved unless you go through the Journey of the Self. This is a journey about moving towards your Truth. How? Get to know who you are, all parts of you - the human and the spiritual, the negative and the positive.

We want the energy to be free flowing between ourselves and the Universe but we interrupt it through our humanity. Take the journey on a daily basis by knowing yourself better. The journey is your mind, in your thoughts. Take heed of the inner voices and do your best to observe yourself on a daily basis. Be mindful of your negative feelings. Observe and connect to them. You don't always have to go to the depths of them. Simply allow them to show.

On the Journey of the Self you must go through all levels of yourself and reach your core, to get to the essence of who you truly are. You then free yourself from the constructs you have created. When you come into alignment you live from a state of grace and innocence and come from purity and source of truth, without having negative thoughts cloud you.

Think positively about the journey. Know that it is difficult but that it is well worthwhile because it will free yourself to do your True work.

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 15th September 2008

30th Oct 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

The Journey of the Self begins when our souls enter this dense Earth realm from an unbounded plane of the Universe. As spiritual beings in a human existence, we come to experience and learn and grow and develop our Soul. On the point of entry we forget our connection to the Universe and begin to develop our human identity.

We come into this world with three things that are unique to us all; our thoughts, our feelings (senses and emotions) and our actions. From the first moment in life we use this toolkit to survive and thrive, first in terms of food and shelter and companionship, and later in terms of relationships, roles, acquisitions and experiences. In essence, fear and need for safety become a driving force for us to create our personality, and as we move forward our life becomes a cycle of thinking, feeling, and acting in order to support the identity we have created and ultimately feel secure and valid.

At some point, however, we may feel that there is something missing in our life, we may realize that our happiness is only temporary, or we may experience pain and suffering.

It is this point that the Journey of the Self begins...

In the next week, observe your patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting and how you use them to relate to people, define yourself, and get the things you feel you need in life. In essence, step outside your human identity and without judgment start to simply become aware of your "self".

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 22nd September 2008

30th Oct 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

The Journey of the Self is to not move into the spiritual space but to stay in your humanity. Embark upon a conscious quest of your humanity and become skillful in knowing yourself.

Knowing your humanity is central to the spiritual quest. Get to know yourself intimately, that which is conscious and unconscious. This is a journey of self exploration - of how you think, feel, and act. This is what is important.

What matters is to know yourself fully and only be yourself. When a person is himself, and at his True Center, then nothing is else required. The True Center is a realized being. When a person becomes self realized then he has a total sense of fulfillment.

In the next week become a student of your self. Without judgment, notice what you are thinking. Are your thoughts in the present moment? Or in the past or future? Are they positive, or negative? Simply observe and record.

I wish you well on your journey.

With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 28th September 2008

30th Oct 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

You observe the heart feeling, the mind thinking, the body acting; the very act of perceiving shows that you are not what you perceive.

- Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Learn how to differentiate between the True Self and the self you created. The True Self is one of innocence. It is the unrestricted and uncontained self. The human being creates upon the True Self a self that is not true. This is the manifestation of a self that has negative Aspects.

On your journey realize that there is one True being but many selves. You identify with these created selves. They become your identity. The spiritual journey helps you understand that these selves are not your True Self. Once you identify and come to terms with all your created selves you can come in to alignment with your True Self and the Universe. Until that time, you will be influenced by your created selves.

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 6th October 2008

30th Oct 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

On the spiritual journey you become fully exposed in the Light and nothing is hidden from view. Allow yourself to be conscious of all your feelings, especially the negative ones. When these feelings are highlighted, follow them to the root to determine how they are created.

Human beings create upon a fear base the aspects of themselves that are energetically negative. The more conscious we become of them the less power these influences have over us. From these situations you get to know all the aspects of yourself. Then you are supremely powerful and cannot be undermined.

I wish you well on your journey.

With love,
Richard

Journey of the Self: Week of 13th October 2008

30th Oct 2008 - Posted by Richard Zimmerman

The Journey of the Self is a process in which you see your humanity so clearly that you have no doubt about yourself and no areas of darkness. There will be nothing about yourself that you do not understand. As you know yourself in every part of your being you can then fully be yourself and one with Self.

The areas of yourself that you do not see clearly will have an energy that holds you. Use your observational abilities to a greater degree to see the subtleties of these energies. This is a stage of fine tuning.

Observe these parts of yourself with acceptance and non judgment. By judging you add a layer of negativity upon the negative layer that you find in yourself. For instance, you may say, "that's good, or that's not good." Or you may feel that if you are a spiritual being then negativity should not be a part of you. Avoid this judgment. To see yourself to the Nth degree you must see your total self, without critique.

This journey is about seeing the imperfection of ourselves. It is about freeing yourself to be who you truly are and then moving freely in ways to serve.

I wish you well on your journey.
With love,
Richard
