Robert Holden’s Top Ten
By Alchemy 30/01/2012

1.  Current book you are reading?
I just finished reading A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I found it inspiring.  Here is one line:  “Don’t let a mad world tell you that success is anything other than a successful present moment.”

2.  Last album you bought?
For Christmas I was given Sting’s album “Best of 25 Years”.   Sting is like a modern Rumi, a musician, poet, and philosopher.  Whenever I hear “Brand New Day” it fills me with a desire to choose love and to be the most loving person I can be.

3.  Recommended Spiritual Practice
I am a student of A Course in Miracles, which includes a spiritual lesson for each day of the year.  I also practice the Buddhist meditation on loving kindness called Meta Bhavna.

4.  Favourite Film
Don Juan DeMarco, in which Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando engage in a series of wonderful conversations about love, truth and the essence of who we really are.  It’s a great love story.

5.  Favourite Place to visit
Hanalei Bay, Kauai. I’ve been 15 times or more.  Slightly closer to home:  Babbo’s restaurant in New York.  Much closer to home:  snuggling up each night in our big family bed with my wife Hollie, and our babies Bo and Christopher.

6.  Health tips for this winter
Do lots of sun salutations.

7. Way to relax
Any time I stop being busy and make a point of really enjoying the moment, I feel a deep sense of relief and relaxation.

8.  Favourite quote
“Life loves you,” Louise Hay.

9. Life changing moment
The day I gave up self-improvement, and started practising self-acceptance.

10. Guilty pleasure
Barolo wine. Kona Rainforest coffee. My favourite Armagnac. Banoffee pie. Pepsi Max.  Cherry and coconut flapjacks. The list goes on. The real pleasure would be to give up guilt.

Robert is holding a workshop here at the Centre on April 11th entitled Shift Happens.
