A New Moon Reading by Molly Hall
By Alchemy 28/09/2011
It’s no time to be passive or checked out. The Libra New Moon on September 27th is a call to be actively engaged in visioning, re-imagining what’s possible. With your full engagement, you can move mountains, make epic changes or shift your attitude (which changes everything). You make the most of this by tuning out distractions, and finding your centre.
Strong mental powers meet great depth perception, as well as the physical vitality to stay alert. This is a critical moment, to shape your present (and future), from your highest ideals. If you know what you want, you’ll be ready to act on opportunities in the moment. Take time to let your mindscape be refreshed, and be open to new ways of seeing.
Your mind gets an immunity boost, making it possible to clear negative patterns and influences. If you’ve wanted to make a fresh start, and disengage from certain currents that pollute your waters, this is your chance! Unplug and see what peace it brings. I’ll be doing this myself. We’re undergoing a death of the ego, so that we can live in the soul. It’s happening in our personal lives, and as a civilisation.
This New Moon is a time to anchor yourself in the reality that’s fertile for you, and where there’s a real future of love, cooperation, balance, beauty, and all those good things.
Make or Break for Relationships
It’s been a real time of testing for relationships of all kinds. Maybe you’ve noticed some have drifted away naturally, while new ties are formed. Libra is the sign of harmony, but with pressures from the Uranus-Pluto square, it’s got to be authentic, not the make-nice kind. Relationships are going through the wringer, as all that’s false or based on outgrown social conditioning, is squeezed off. We see what’s left to build on. Do we share the same values? Is there a future here? This is a New Moon for soul searching, and asking for guidance about your relationships.
A Higher Standard
There are some fine, humane energies here, with Mercury (perception), Venus (love), Saturn(law and order) joining the two luminaries — Sun and Moon — in Libra. This puts the muscle of authority into our own ability to perceive what’s out of balance, unfair, unjust or just one side of the story. We’re not satisfied until we’ve looked from all sides, and heard many views.
Saturn is exalted in Libra, and that word suggests the glory of what’s possible when we move forward in balance. We’re elevated by this air sign, with all things artful, stylish, even-handed, and impartial. There’s trust in the air, when we know each is mindful of the other. And that we’re committed — a Saturnian phrase — to partnership, cooperation, diplomacy. And best of all, we enjoy it and feel elevated by raising the bar.
Commitment to Beauty, Love, Fairness, Art
The strong presence of Saturn with Venus, and Pluto’s square to the Sun-Moon make commitment a strong theme here. You could see where a commitment to beauty and balance takes hold. That might mean a serious commitment to more humour, art, graciousness, fairness, etc. It’s possible to experience a personal tipping point. Where you disengage from things that demoralise or degrade you, or dilute your sense of purpose.
Libra is the sign of light, and being a light bringer. I see this as a chance to strengthen the commitment to being that light. The revolutionary energies are strong, and in some places, it seems there’s a fight for the future. This is a lunation for visioning your role to play in this historic drama.
I find this an encouraging perspective, because it reminds me that we’re at the start of a journey, and don’t have to know all the answers. At the New Moon, we can find a calm in the centre, and find more discipline to ‘go there,’ and avoid getting burned out, worn out, discouraged. It’s an important reminder to pace ourselves for a lifetime of change, where it’s up to us to find those places of peace to rest in within, and make room for those moments of startling clarity.
Since Libra is both the balancing Scales and the sword of Illumination. What’s tipping your scale out of balance? What do you want to draw in? Now is a time for big picture thinking. Keep a journal close, or your art, music or performance tools handy. Libra is ruled by the love and beauty planet Venus and while it’s a sign known for eloquence, your expression may not be in words.
Thank goodness for the renewing New Moon Make space to go within, retreat, deeply listen. Out of the New Moon, comes new growth. What you set in motion psychically and with actions finds natural momentum as the Moon waxes to Full.
